Now more than ever there is an imperative to be firm in our actions and responses. But many of us may feel that we do not have the power to make much of an impact and feel powerless when we witness the impacts of climate change. We may recognise that at work our organisations are talking about making a difference, but there doesn’t appear to be much change on the ground.
It may be a challenge but now really is the time for that to change and we encourage everyone to ask the questions of colleagues, managers, or leaders. What are our sustainability commitments? What is our organisation doing? How can I get involved?
Our team at Not Sustainable will share resources to help grow your knowledge, and signpost to great information and guidance for anyone who is keen to build confidence on how make a difference. A great starting point is the book ‘How Bad Are Bananas’ by Mike Berners-Lee. This fantastic manual has some great stats about the carbon impacts of everything from the latte you had this morning through to the impact of your pet (spoiler alert – cats are far less then dogs).
Beyond that, building up your own knowledge and sharing what you learn from others can start to make a difference – the power and impact of sharing better practices is significant in our experience.
If you want your business to take the agenda more seriously or you suspect the business leaders need a help with taking action, or would value support from some of us that have been working on this for a while, then share our link with them.
Although we advocate courageous action, we also recognise the power of small steps.
